VAULT BREACHER
5 Weeks Individual Strategy Game Project
Vault Breacher is a strategy game where you will have to breach through the deadly security system to get to the treasure vault hidden in the deepest part of the containment. You will be provided with limited resources to spend on tools capable of bypassing the security traps, be careful on spending and managing your resources!
DESIGN PROCESS
This project was my first ever strategy game, which I never had any designing experience before. Meaning that in the aspects of strategy genre, I had a lot to learn and research back then.

Research

Understand the aesthetic. What should the player feel while playing?

Know the aspects of strategy game. (Improvisation, management, risk & reward)

Learn the core mechanics of strategy games. (Resource, decision making)

Planning & Prototype

Write a concept. What kind of experience do I want to deliver? And what theme will go with it?

Design mechanics. Which kind of gameplay will deliver the concept that I designed?

Make a playable prototype for testing.

Testing

List the data I want to get from playtest for further improvement.

Playtest with testers, record their gameplay and feedback for the wanted playtest data.

Analyze the test data and problem of the current game's version.

Improvement
-
Design a solution to solve the problem / mechanics or features to improve the game from the last playtest result.

Use the new version to repeat the testing process.

Repeat these 2 processes until the game is ready to finalize.
